Its for this place called homecare... they didn't explain much but I think they may do door - door stuff

The ad said that experience wasn't necessary which appealed to me, being just out of highscool... 17 years of age

The ad also said the income would be $3,300 per month plus bonuses ... which also appealed to me.

What should I look out for in the interview ... can I make sure my income isn't purely based on how much I sell ?

what do you reckon they are looking for to fill this kind of position ?

Any other tips ?

Thanks

Door to door sales is difficult but will pay for you if you present yourself well, listen to the customer, make your product the answer to their need and persevere through difficult times. Describe for them situations in your life in which you demonstrated these qualities and you should get hired. They are probably looking fo people to sell their product.

I wrote a blog about job search strategies that may work for you.

Any type of sales job requires someone who is pretty much bright and happy and has good customer skills, as well as a great personality. Seeing that the ad said that experience wasn't necessary, than you probably have a really good shot. Just be well pressnted and be yourself. Best of luck. :D

Caitlin

PS, I have no idea about door knobs

If it's as a door-to-door salesman they will probably look for you to be able to give examples of when:

You dealt with an angry customer

How you interact socially with people

I would also suggest you ask them questions such as:

What training will I receive

How long will training last

Will I be paid during training

Is it commission based only - i.e. if you don't make sales you don't get any money

Will someone be appointed to mentor me while I learn how it all works

Does the company provide a car/fuel/cell phone etc

Is this contract work or permanent

Why are you recruiting for this position

How well does the product sell

SO those are just a few questions you should get answers to before proceeding any further with this type of work. I only say that because you are still young and having just left high school will not have that much life experience to bring to the table.

I would ask you just to be very careful, there are a lot of big sharks out there in the sales world.

That aside, I really wish you every success with whatever you do.
