Expat Salary Package for a Sales Management Position in Abu Dhabi...?

Hi,

I have been offered a base salary of AED25000, Car Allowance of AED5000 and Accomodation Allowance of AED12000, School Allowance of AED1500 per kid (I have a 2.5 years old son) plus all other expenses paid (i.e. Petrol, Phones etc).

Now my question is; is the above good enough for a decent family life in Abu Dhabi? also is it good enough to consider a move from UK to UAE with a view of making a decent savings per month. I have a 4 bedroom house in London that I have recently renovated and will have to rent it out if I rellocate to UAE for a period of three years. Is the move worth it?

Any advise shall be highly appreciated. Please reply in as much details as possible as to what the actual living costs are?

Thank you,

Regards,

Ali

You should compare your present earnings with the offered job. The cost of living in UAE is less than in UK. If the above salary and benefits are monthly then these are good emoluments compared to average salries in UAE.

One United Arab Emirate Dirham is worth about 17.5 pence at today's prices. That's all I know on the subject.

Check out the second link for more detail, inflation is high at 10% and cost of living is high.

Housing: A 2bedroom flat in a decent neighbourhood costs between AED100,000 and AED140,000 per annum.

Schooling: High school costs about AED40,000 (depending on school fees can be up to AED90,000) per annum, while primary school costs between 20,000 to 28,000 AED per child at schools where the UK, US or European curriculum ist taught by teachers from those countries.

Utilities: Depending on the size of your home electricity and water can cost between AED1,200 and AED 5,000 and a full time maid costs at least12,000 AED per annum.

Car rental: cars can be leased for AED1,500 per month which would mean an annual cost of AED18,000.

Telephone: local calls are free, local calls from mobile phones are 15-30 fils per minute. Internet flat rate costs approximately AED250 per month.

Insurance: car insurance is 4-7% of the vehicle value, home insurance starts at AED190 for a coverage of AED50,000.
