Why do people get unemployment extentions if they filed in 2006- Aug 2009,but not those that get fired after?

Here is what my Unemployment Office notice shows:

Original Claim effective May 7, 2006 - Jan. 4, 2009: Up to 26 weeks of regular UI

Up to 20 weeks of EUC-Tier 1

Up to 13 weeks of EUC-Tier 2

Up to 14 weeks of EUC

(Up to 13 weeks Tier 3 and 1 week Tier 2)

73 weeks total

Original Claim effective Jan. 11, 2009 - Apr. 5, 2009: 26 weeks of regular UI

20 weeks of EUC-Tier 1

14 weeks of EUC-Tier 2

60 weeks total

Original Claim effective Apr. 12, 2009 - Aug. 16, 2009: 26 weeks of regular UI

20 weeks of EUC-Tier 1

46 weeks total

Original Claim effective Aug. 23, 2009 or later: 26 weeks of regular UI only

I can't understand why would I only get 26 weeks,when someone that has been drawing it for a year before me gets it more than three times longer;is this correct?

That's when the recession was. If you got fired during that period then it's the recession's fault. If you got fired after then it's your fault.

Because according to the federal government the economic crisis is over. And those special EUC payments were authorized and funded by the federal government in response to the economic crisis.

I hope knowing that the economic crisis is over makes you feel better.

You are only getting 26 weeks? Why can't you have more? I don't know - but maybe you should concentrate on getting a job instead of moaning about the awful way the government is treating you, and only you.
