Unemployment Benefits in CA in the following situation?

I have a question regarding CA unemployment benefits. I currently am employed with a company as a Buyer. As a general rule when someone puts in their two weeks notice the company goes ahead and release them from employment because of their desire to not have someone on the quits holding the company check book. My question is this. If I let my employer know that in six months I am going to be quitting and going back to school and they decide to let me go then and there and not waiting for the 6 months. Am I eligible for unemployment benefits until I start school (roughly 6 month) because they in fact laid me off?

If you give notice, you quit. If you quit, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. Can't get any simpler than that. |
