Thinking of leaving work (obviously need to find another job first) I have had no holidays this year?

Will I get paid for accrued holidays so far? I mean if I start another job, holiday entitlement will be calculated from the start date meaning I will lose out on accrued holidays for this year so far - so confused.

Yes, your final pay packet will include any annual leave not taken.

Oddly, if you were given permission to anticipate leave, then you don't have to pay them back.

It's not always clear how to begin searching for a job, I was in a quandary during the last couple of weeks when I was job seeking, until I found the site in the box below that gives sensible tips and tricks. I soon got myself going down the proper route, and in a couple of weeks after a few interviews I got myself a really excellent job.

You do need to check the rules around accruing annual leave, as it is common in many companies that leave can only be carried over for a certain time before it is lost if not taken within the year- some companies have a 'set' year eg April to the following March, or a 'rolling' year from the date you began your contract.

You should have a chat with the HR department about this ( and no need to say you're planning to leave, just to enquire on their policy). It is also common practice on leaving to get paid for annual leave not taken, but again there may be rules on how much of the accrued leave can be taken this way.

Just a bit concerned that you've spent an entire year without taking any leave ( good grief, what has your work/life balance been like? Any good employer would want to know why you haven't taken at least a short break!)- as the average leave is 25 days for a year, you'll need to consider where this leaves both you and the employer about how to handle this if you leave, particularly if you also have to give a month's notice.
