Should i report my coworker?

I got my best friend (former best friend now) a job at my work and she's been totally taking advantage of me. We work the overnight shift and she'll come on to work (at 12am) and stay up an hour till 1 then shes asleep till 6am. We work in the health care field so there is definately work to be done during the night. I've had it. She knows she's in the wrong. I've asked her to stop. And I know this is personal politics but I know she dosent do anything all day. If she had a busy and responsible life like had children and/or going to school it would be one thing but she tells me shes lazy and does nothing all day except be a freeloader and lives for free. Shes only in her early 20s. Please help.

Try to handle this yourself first. Going to management to report a worker you recommended won't reflect well on you, so try to avoid it.

Don't just ask her to stop, tell her to. Keep waking her up, and if she continues to sleep, video her naps the job over several occasions, and then show it to her, and tell her you will report her, and see if that opens her eyes. And if you have it on video, you will have proof of your accusations, in case she denies it to management later on.

Looks like you need to gently hint to your supervisor that there needs to be some supervision seen at night. Otherwise you're being taken advantage of, for sure.

I would talk to her about it one more time & make it serious. If she doesn't change anything at all then definitely report her. If something ends up going wrong or things don't get done they might blame you & then it will be too late to tell anybody because they'll want to know why you didn't tell them about this sooner. You get paid to work for that company and your loyalty should be to them not to this girl. They should know that they are paying someone to sleep. If you were paying someone to do a job for you would you be happy to know that you're paying them for nothing? Probably not. I say you talk to her about it & if she doesn't take it seriously then yep report her.

Yes, report her. It's not just you that has a problem but the people who are not having things done that she should be.

Tell her first though that she leaves you no choice and you are tired of covering for her.

Don't worry about losing her friendship. She is not much of a friend.

Don't let her get over. Quietly I'd start documenting: her full name/title/dept./time she arrives, what happens during your shift,i.e. she sleeps; also include the fact that you told her to stop sleeping on the clock, with date (or if you don't remember the exact date, tell her again).

Keep a record of any/all work you do during your shift as well, include in your documentation.

Send a copy of your documentation to your supervisor.

If your "friend" stops talking to you, no problem. If she retaliates in any way, or still continues her obnoxious behavior, it's a problem. Keep documenting.

She needs to pick up her share of the work. She's not doing it. No problem. When you document her unethical behavior I'll bet there will be a change in your favor.

Good luck
