Is there any way for employers to find out about medical marijuana?

I was wondering if there were any way for employers to find out (aside from drug testing) if an applicant has applied, holds, or used to hold a prescription for medical marijuana. I am in need of a prescription, but want to be sure it won't come back to bite me before I make the move to obtain it.

If you have a legitimate medical condition that requires the use of marijuana then you are most likely unable to perform the essential duties of ANY job.......

the legitimate use of medical marijuana is for a very limited number of mostly terminal deceases that generally cause the inability to perform most Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

if you have a legitimate need you WILL be using near work time and most likely during.

most likely you're either VERY UNINFORMED about the use of medical marijuana or you are just trying to find an excuse to TOKE......

without pre-employment or random drug testing there is no way for an employer to obtain this information unless you divulge it.......

if you fail to divulge it and fail a test you could then ask for an accommodation under ADA for your condition BUT the employer may not be able to accommodate your request........

Just because you have a medical marijuana card does NOT allow you to be high at work.

They drug test you and you are out with a bad reference.
