Alabama does NOT require any breaks for adults...

Federal law (FLSA) does not require any breaks at all....

right to work has been explained fairly well by 'Musical-...' but that answer failed to cover all aspects....

in R-to-W states the union can not require an employee to have a union membership to work in a union shop.... these laws are directed more towards the unions then the employers...

There is a law saying that one has to have a break every four hours I believe. So if you didn't get a break I'm sure you can go talk to someone and sue whoever you work for.

It is federal law that states a minimum ten minute break must be given within the first three hours and a minimum half-hour lunch break must be given within the first five hours of any work day.

A 'right to work' state means one does not have to belong to a union to work and unions cannot lock out employees of non-union organizations to force them to join.

Under federal law, breaks are not required, but depending on what state you are in. http://www.dol.gov/whd/state/meal.htm

Right to work means that an employer cannot make joining or paying dues to a union a requirement for employment.

If you are a quiet type of person who simply works for eight hours without informing anyone you haven't had a break, the fault is basically yours. If you are reminding your supervisor that you haven't had a break and he/she is refusing you a break, then you need to seek legal advice.

No breaks or lunch breaks are required for adults by Alabama or federal law. Breaks and lunches are required by some states, but over half of the states do not require them. Responders who say otherwise are wrong, maybe thinking of other states and not realizing it's based on what state you're in. The responder who claims federal law requires breaks is just clueless.

A right to work state is one where you can't be required to join a union to work at a particular place. In some situations though, you must pay at least some of the union dues.

If you're really asking about employment at will states, that means an employer can terminate you for no reason, or for any non-discriminatory reason, and that you can quit if you want to.
