If I quit my job, what am I entitled to?

Can someone please offer me some advice, I have been given two weeks notice before I am been terminated of my employment.
Now the man who has fired me, has told everyone I resigned and has asked me to confirm my resignation in writing,
My manager has now made my last week hell. I have a fantastic interview to go to on Friday, but he has scheduled a handover meeting (after I advised I would need to leave early that day to attend) I am now in the position, where I just want to get the hell out of there.
If I was to go in tomorrow and say I wasn't returning would he be able to deduct the last four days of my pay or any of the holiday pay I have earnt in lieu?

If you are in the U.S. - Yes, they can deduct salary for any time/days you have not worked. As far as confirming your resignation in writing goes I would clarify that you did not resign your position with the company so you will not write a letter. |

They want to get out of paying you severance or unemployment. You need to not put that in writing. If you write anything, you can state what happened. You have been with the company for however long you were there, you have had good reviews, your manager informed you that you were being involuntarily released (terminated) and that your last date of employment was to be xxx date. Make copies of the letter and ask them to sign a copy of when they received the letter from you and retain your own copy. If they balk at it, then ask them why they have a problem with signing a letter that lays out the facts about your termination. If they threaten, ask them why they are telling people that you resigned, when they are firing you. If possible, have a witness from HR or another supervisor that you trust to be there. |
