My main concern is choosing which branch to take up.I need advice on how the work in each branch is and what it is that these people really do.

You are asking a question which is basically unanswerable. There are so many different types of jobs that lawyers can get, plus they can work for any number of different types of companies, not just for law firms. Every company has different needs and each creates their own job descriptions. You could even open and start your own business and create your own job and job description, including hiring your own associates. There are also jobs that you can get that being a lawyer complements their primary responsibilities rather than is their primary responsibility. Any lawyers you talk to will have different feelings about different work, so most will not really help you regardless of what they say. Everyone's different.

I would suggest you first decide exactly the type of lawyer responsibilities you want to do and the type of company you wish to work for based on your personality, regardless of what you are aware of is out there. Then start looking for jobs that fill that bill, even considering creating that job, if necessary, as your own business. Also talk to employment agencies that place lawyers.

There are so many different options at so many different companies, even different types of companies, I don't think you'd need to start your own company unless you feel that this is what would turn you on.

Good luck. :-)
