How can I move to GA with a British Law Degree?

Category: Law & Legal

I graduate from Law School in the UK next year but I really want to move to Atlanta or Savannah in Georgia, USA. I will have a British law with American studies law degree (LLB).

As you know GA is not as current as NY or California so my LLB will not be acceptable to sit the state bar.

I am currently on a very good law internship right now in GA for the summer. Just to make connections and gain insight into to US Law.

I would love to be a child attorney but I probably won't be able to practice due to lack of J.D.

What about becoming a paralegal? Should I do a Master's Degree in GA? What other routes can I take?

When you get here permanently, you apply for a US law school and attend enough classes to learn the difference between the two schools and then take the bar exam. If you pass the bar exam, you can practice law. A degree in law is not required to be an attorney, you must demonstrate enough knowledge of law to practice without problems.

I personally know of a right wing radical neighbor that took the bar exam over 100 times before he passed and got his license. He didn't attend a single day of law school.
