You have to be U.S. citizen or a permanent resident that already applied for citizenship before you can apply to become a police officer in the United States. If you are, then you need only meet the other requirements of the department you want to work for, and follow their application process. Requirements can vary from one department from another. Some common requirements are being at least 21 years old, having a valid driver's license, having no felony convictions, and having no misdemeanor domestic violence convictions. |
