Got fired, but is this discrimination?

Category: Law & Legal

So I got fired from my job today, reason for it was because myself and a coworker started our own company due to the a decline in business at our current job caused by very poor managment descisions. Now obviously this is a reason to get fired but heres the questions i have. 1, can i be sued for doing this if we never signed a non-compete agreement. And 2, is it discrimination because we we're fired for starting our own company even though there is another employee there that has his own of the same type as well, but he wasnt fired, he's a home audio installer that works for us and does his own home audio business at night, but we were fired for starting a mobile audio company and working there as moile electronic installers.. They're worried about ours because they know we can succede and the other guy not so much. Thanks in advance for any help.

No it's not discrimination. Look up the legal definition.

Can you be sued? Probably not.

When you are working for a company, and you start up your company doing the same type of service??? This is a red flag that you will steal their customers, use the same suppliers, put out rumors about that company so people will drop them and come over to you.

This is not discrimination, this is called conflict of interest.

You should get Personal Liability Insurance when you have a business, and it will cost you about $400.00 per year.
