Former Employer Lying, Need Help!?

My husband was laid off almost a year ago due to the economy, he worked there for 14 years. He has been wondering why he is getting very few bites from his applications and resumes. just this past week two company's that he applied for told him that his old job is telling these companys he did a job that he didn't do. She is telling them that he did "office help" when in actuality he did shipping/receiving and inventory control. My husband call the HR lady at his old job and asked he why she is telling them that he did just "office help" and she said that was what you did, "office help". He told her that that was not what he did, and he explained to her everything he did at his job and she said "oh well".

This is preventing him from getting a job, he made several more phone calls to companys he applied for and asked questions and these told him they won't consider him because he is not qualified for the position and he lied on his application and resume. What the Heck!

What can my husband do from here.

PLEASE HELP!

I would contact an attorney. The HR person at your husband's former job is putting herself at a huge liability, and she might not even be aware of it. Perhaps a letter from an attorney would jolt her into changing the way she does things. I owned a small business for 12 years, and when I got calls from other employers the ONLY thing I would tell them is whether or not an individual worked for me and the dates of employment. Anything beyond that and I'd be setting myself up for a lawsuit.

Sounds like you should file a lawsuit or at least a complaint.
