Fired for being pregnant?

My girlfriend has been working in this company for one month.
She recently found out that she is about 8 weeks pregnant and has missed a total of 2 days from work as her pregnancy is having early complications. She has received notes from the Doctor stating that she is not supposed to work during those 3 days and received another letter stating that she will not be able to work for 2 more days because they put a needle into her stomach to check if the baby is o.k.
She just got a call from her employer saying that they are laying her off because she is not reliable as she is pregnant and will be missing work too much, also because she already missed 2 days. This is totally gonna hurt us as bills will pile up. We have 3 more kids and I will not make enough to pay all home bills and her car, insurance and cell phone bills.
Is there any legal action we can take? If so, how would we start?

If you're in the US they can fire you for whatever reason they choose, including inability to reliably perform her job. Sorry, but there's nothing you can do except focus on having a healthy pregnancy and potentially finding another job if and when she is able to be a more reliable employee. |

She's not being fired for being pregnant, she's being fired for missing to much work. The employer doesn't legally have to keep someone on if they can't come to work reliably. So no there's no legal action she can take and win. |
