Do I have to work my notice?
Hi
Im currently working as a designer for small company and am responible for producing work for large well know companies.
Baically I'm fed up of my job and have been for a while. My boss hardly talks talks to me even though i sit next to him, I don't feel appreciated, and am on minimum wage even though I'm the sole person in the company that produces design work that will be used by large blue chip companies.
I started the job at the end of last year as a temporary job. I was told I would receive a contract after the initial three months, which I have not had(and don't wont!).
I would love to leave them in the lurch, as my boss just sits on facebook while im doing the work. Do I have to give any notice before leaving even though I have never seen or signed a work contract?
I friend of mine who studies law, said I still need to work my notice, is this true? as I have never had a contract.

If you want to get paid you MUST give your employer 4 WEEKS notice in writing of your leaving date - regardless of a contract. |

The fact that you turn up for work, do the work and get paid constitutes a contract. BY not giving you written terms and conditions within 8 weeks of starting, your employer is breaking the law. In the absence of written terms, the statutory rules apply and these state that with under a years service, you need to give a week's notice. |
