On Monday after 4.5 hrs work I was allowed to go home as I had temperature and had breathing problems. On Tuesday morning I called in sick at work but failed to call in sick on wed-frid. However my manager called me on Friday asking if I will ome on Monday. Next week (on Monday) on my return I was handed in letter inviting me for disciplinary meeting to iscuss my abenteeism. Can they realyy lawfully do that?

Of course they can, you violated the company's policy on attendance. While they can understand if you are ill and cannot work which can be excused with a doctors note, that does not preclude you from telling them you won't be in for your scheduled shift within the stated guidelines. You left them shorthanded without any notice. Many places would have fired you for not calling in to say you are still ill and cannot work. You have a responsibility to show up for your scheduled shifts, or give them proper notice and a valid reason as to why you cannot.

Of course. You were a no-call no-show for 3 days. Most employers would and can fire you for it.
