Can i receive any JSA ( jobseekers allowance) with a part time job?

Hi,

I loose my job last month and I claim for get some JSA, 2 week later i find a part time job ( 11 hours a week) the job centre didn't really explain me how much it's going to affect my benefits money, so please can you explain me, and tell me how much they take out.

11 hours a week means you can still claim JSA... however... if you earn £200 for those 11 hours no you can't. You can work up to 16 hours and still claim JSA.

Your JSA is either £64 or £50 weekly depending on your age. They allow you £5 of that in your pocket so basically if you earn £68 or £54 a week you will get £1 a week from JSA which you need to go in and sign for every 2 weeks. If you earn £69 or £55 a week you can sign and get NI credits but no extra money.

They CAN change your signing day in line with your work though which means you don't have to take time off to sign and that £1 a week would be £52 a year so you'd pay a months water bill!

A final note is if you have a child you get tax credits for working 16+ hours per week.

Yes, for those days you are not working. for certain duration, work must not continue after centrain perioid.

I believe they deduct your earnings from your JSA up to 16 hours a week, after which they stop all benefits completely .. at which point you are earning so little you either starve to death or go bankrupt trying to pay your bills ....

This is the 'benefits trap' created by the Labor Government ... once you are in it, it's almost impossible to get out ..

[my theory is that Labor hates Employers so much that they wanted everyone either working for Government OR classed as disabled or unemployed .. and, after 10 years of continuous massive expansion in state "services" and what counts as 'disabled', they ALMOST achieved it ..
