Actually despite the other answers about not being to get JSA when you haven't paid any NI, you CAN claim when you haven't paid any NI or do not have enough NI credits: It's called INCOME based JSA!

(the only two times I ever had to claim JSA AND it was INCOME based and NOT NI based as I had not paid enough National Insurance!!)

There are TWO types of JSA

NI based - based on how many NI credits you have paid

INCOME based - based on income of household and when you have not paid enough NI!

READ link below and this states this:

There are two types of Jobseeker's Allowance, 'contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance' and 'income-based Jobseeker's Allowance'.

Contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance

Jobcentre Plus can pay this for up to 182 days. Its based on how much National Insurance you have paid in the last two tax years. Generally, self-employed contributions will not help you qualify for contribution-based Jobseekers Allowance.

Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

This is based on your income and savings. You may get this if you have not paid enough National Insurance contributions (NICs) (or you've only paid contributions for self-employment) and you're on a low income.

Anyway, you DO have to be 18 and over to claim JSA unless for instance you have been kicked out of home or are estranged from your parents and have no other means to support yourself!

(Jobseeker's Allowance isn't normally paid to 16 or 17 year olds, except in special cases)

AND students don't normally qualify as you must be available for work not just for a few months!

Dont think so,as you have paid national insurance ect.get a part time job if you can.

You're a student, you're a minor child (under 18), and dependent of your parents. Forget it.

The UK is bankrupt anyway, so all those on the dole (any of the various types of doles) are about to be out of luck very soon anyway. Nobody can count any sort of money from the govt these days - the govt spent too much already, the taxpayers are broke, and if the govt revs up the printing press, the pound note will be worth less than a sheet of toilet paper. This is true of Eurozone, UK, US, etc.

You must find work! What can you DO that an employer needs & is willing to pay for?

Thats why you will not get jobseelers, you have paid not national insurance and your not 18, you have to be over 18.. go to agencies for temp work over the summer, there are jobs as people prefer to employ students as theyre gone in a couple months
