Can a Serbian Law school graduate work in the United States?

Forgive me if I sound ignorant but does it make a difference if someone studies law in Serbia as apposed to the US if they wanted to work in the United States after graduation? Is there that huge of a difference in the "law" that they learn? Would a test qualify them to work in the US?

Thx

Depending on the state, you might be eligible to take the bar exam with a law degree from Serbia. Some states could require that you obtain an LLM (master's degree in law) in the United States in order to learn a specialty in American law.

The problem, though--and you pointed this out in your question--is that the curriculum at a Serbian law school will be very different than the curriculum at an American law school. While you probably could become a licensed attorney in some states in the USA, the reality is that you would have immense difficulty finding employment, unless you have connections.

If you want to work in the US as an attorney, then you need to strongly consider going for your JD in the United States. There is no shortage of attorneys in the US with JDs from American law schools. Your Serbian degree won't be competitive and law firms won't want to gamble on an individual who may have no real understanding of American laws.

If you have no choice but to go for your law degree in Serbia, then your best bet is working in Serbia for a law firm that has offices in the US that may allow you to transfer.

Yes the law is different and you must pass the Bar Association exams in the State you wish to work

The law is even different from State to State

The USA already has too many lawyers and not enough jobs

REAL answer:

The previous answer is correct. You must pass the relevant state Bar exam to practice in the US.
