Can I work as a phlebotomist with Felony DUI's over 10 years ago?

Im a recovering alcoholic and Im thinking about working as a phlebotomist or ultra-sound tech but need to know if I can work as one having 3 felony DUI's my last one was in 3/2001. I have no drug or violent charges I was a drunk. I worked as an Electrician but work is dead need to find something new. thank you for your feed back.

That is really up to the hiring company. Honestly, the only way to find out is to call local clinics and potential places you would eventually like to work and ask them their policy. Tell them that you have a past with DUI's, the last being over ten years ago. See what they have to say about their policy. Every company is different on their hiring policies. I've known recovering alcoholics be able to work their way back into law or medicine. I don't see how someone wouldn't give you a chance, but your best bet is to do some calling and just ask.

Thank you for your question. The answer to your question will be very much up to the licensing board.

If your case is in California, where I am, then the licensing board requires that you disclose any convictions. The problem for you is that they can find a pattern of addiction if you have more than one DUI, and you mentioned you have three. Of course, they balance other factors, so if you have a clean record and can show you are responsible, even that may not be a problem.
