Any one practicing law in Canada...?

Category: Law & Legal

Can give me any little insight into a career in law? What its like, what school is/was like etc? Does it really take up all of your time, or do you at least get some time in the day to enjoy hobbies etc...Preferably for people practicing in Canada, but others are welcome to answer.

My father is a practicing lawyer and he gave me this advice. My dad is a partner at a firm in downtown Vancouver. He specializes in tax law. My dad went to UBC for undergrad and law school. Undergrad wasn't as time consuming as law school. Law school was three rigorous years of learning the different material. The majority of students in his class finished with an average of around 65-70. Law school is difficult and not to be taken lightly. The problem with law school marks is that you want them to be good as firms recruit you based on them. You have to put a lot into your studying so you can get good grades. My father went to law school 25 years ago but it's still the same.
