I am 16 year old who is a dj for my brother business, i do kids party's and weddings and i get a alot of money for doing this. I am still in school thou and my teacher says that i am breaking the law because i ain't paying any tax because i make more than £10,000 a year which is $20,000(i think) in the US, plus i have no CRB. My brother says that i am ain't working for him, i am volunteering for him and he his giving me rewards. Alot of people in my school are jealous and trying to report me because they are getting minimum wage and working hours from early morning and paying tax wheres i do evenings for about 2 hours and sometimes night partys for a wage that a business man would get, am i breaking the law?

It sounds to me like you might be. But I'm no expert.

You are supposed to pay tax.Otherwise all kinds of people would claim to be volunteers and get "Rewards " only.See a tax accountant - it's worth it.

Just curious - where did you learn your grammar ?

Yes, you are. It is illegal in most countries to not report income. Depending on what country you live in, your brother and you could both be criminally charged depending on the amounts you both are hiding. Not only are you breaking the law, but your brother is as well. I know in the US, you can only claim so much money as "gift" and "rewards". You have well exceeded that limit here in the states. If one of your friends are successful at reporting you and your brother, you could both be investigated by whatever taxing agency in the country you live in and be forced to pay back taxes and fines.

You both know that you are in the wrong and despite whatever you think, you will eventually be caught.
