Who can tell me about medical coder like medical billing & coding career?

I am doing project for medical coder, can't find any good information on internet so thought some of you might know some like educational requirements, work experience, and personal attributes for medical coder job.

There should be a ton of information on the internet, medical coding has become a popular career. Either way

Education: There is a 6-9 month certificate/diploma course. Any online, community, technical school should offer this. This is just the basics, mostly for outpatient/physicians office coding

Also is an Associates and Bachelors degree in Health Information Management, Hospitals prefer this for their inpatient coders.

Work Experience: this field has become over saturated with new graduates with no experience. Most employers prefer at least 2-3 years experience for entry level coding jobs. Start out somewhere else in the field, medical records, front desk, data entry or billing, gain experience and leverage it into a coding job.

Personal Attributes: You have to be flexible, rules, regulations, guidelines are always changing, you have to keep up with them.

Detail Oriented, you have to pay attention to the small things, it can change whether your physician gets reimbursed or not.

Coding can get a little repetitive, you have to be willing to do the same stuff, every day, for 8 hours. Many find this tedious and get burned out on it.
