What are the job benefits of being a Surgeon?

I'm talking about actual job benefits
I.E. dental care, health plan, etc etc
I know it varies from hospital to hospital, but just general benefits that any surgeon would most likely recieve.

Very few surgeons are actual hospital employees except for groups like Kaiser Permanente, or a specialty employer medical corporation (like "ortho care") etc. Most, or common is to be self employed within a group that gets privileges at hospitals. If they are self employed they may have no provided benefits at all except malpractice is usually paid for by the entire group as an individual corporation you would provide your own health care).. The group may or may not cover other things such as vacation or benefits, it would be the group vote. There is usually profit sharing, however. At this level of career, the "job" benefits are not like they are for lower positions with "benefits". |
