What are the hours like for a private practice family physician?

For someone who sees adults and children at his/her private practice, what are the hours like?

Do they work Saturdays, Sundays? What about the hours per week? Vacation? Thanks

Administrative work can take up a large part of their day. Those who run their own practices have many business-related responsibilities. Physicians work very long hours, especially at the beginning of their careers. Most average between 9 and 12 hours a day and 50 to 65 hours a week. They may also have very irregular work schedules. They may have to work evenings and Saturdays to accommodate patients. It can be difficult to balance a full-time career as a doctor with a family life or personal time.

9-5 monday through friday. and doctor refer their patients to each other during vacations.

If a doctor is in "private practice" they set their hours however they like,

the doctor will work as little or as much as they desire.........

anymore many doctors don't have office hours on weekends some only are in 4 days a week but they also have emergency calls at all hours and most do hospital rounds almost every day (depending on if they have patients in the hospital)........

most doctors i know work 60 to 105 hours a week,

the ones i know personally take 4 to 6 weeks of vacation each year.
