What Should I do to become a RN?

Category: Health Care

I'm in college now but, I am transferring to another school so I can major in Nursing. Many people have told me that you have to have your masters to become an RN. I don't think that's true but any answers on what you have to do after earning your BSN and anything pertaining to Nursing would be helpful please!!

If you have a degree - or any other qualification - then you'll already be ahead of the masses when it comes to hunting for professions. My mate has a degree and he wasn't certain what direction to go with it, but he uncovered some good guidance on the resource in the resource box below which helped him to decide that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is loads of help on the resource regarding other professions.

That is not true, if only if you want to be the Head Nurse, but getting a BSN is just fine. I used to work as a Student Assistant at Cal State San Bernardino for the Nursing Dept. They have BSN and Master program. If you planned to get your BSN after that is Master program. You get paid more with a Master in Nursing and most Hospitals prefer you have a Master rather than BSN. Good Luck in your Nursing Career.

It is very possible to have a rewarding career as an RN in any state of the union as long as you have graduated from an accredited School of Nursing. The 2 year Associates Degree will, upon graduation, allow you to sit for the NCLEX exam. After passing the NCLEX ("boards"), you are a registered nurse in that state, and can take your letters anywhere. Most if not all states will allow you to apply for a nursing licence in that state as long as you have passed the NCLEX. (For example: 2 year nursing school in South Carolina, graduate with ASN degree, apply for CA nursing licence after passing boards, became travel nurse within 2 years of graduation)

EXPERIENCE is the key. Most jobs such as OR, ER, ICU, etc are not quick to hire new graduates. Internship programs are out there but few and far between.Time on the floor as a med-surg nurse is worth more than another year of school, as long as your personal career track does not involve management as your goal. If you are interested in managing, continue with your education-But please do the year in Med-Surg anyway. It will help you understand your employees better!
