Registered RN (Hospice) with interest in Massage Program?

Category: Health Care

I am wondering if there are any nurses (RN or LPN) who also have massage certification. I work as a Primary RN in Hospice and am considering getting certified. The cost of the program is $12,900. I am 43 years old and definitely have a passion for massage. I am uncertain though if this financial investment will do anything more for me then full fill my desire to learn. Does anyone know, or is anyone a Nurse Massage Therapist? Has it helped you with your career compensation at all to have this credential? I know I could work Saturdays or nights and it would be paid for in two years but I would like it to make me money too with opportunity. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A relative of mine has both. She said massage was a waste of time because it doesn't pay as much, it's harder on the body and the traditional medical community doesn't respect it as a valid modality. She said it absolutely did not pay for itself and was truly a waste of time. She could do all of the same things without wasting her time and money in the massage program.
