Question about RN hourly/salary wages PLEASE?
Im going to school for the 2 year program in RN-APP. Obviously i plan to pass & hopefully become a registered nurse when all is said & done. I live in Florida on the panhandle. Can anyone tell me how much a fresh-out-of-school RN would make first year? & I'm planning on just working at the local hospital or medical office although someone told me most medical offices only employee LPN's... Thank you for any help!

Some places pay different amounts. Hospitals usually pay towards the bottom of the pay scales in some places. Nursing homes usually pay good because they are more work. I work at a behavioral health unit and most of the rn's there make between 30 and 38 bucks an hour. That's pretty good. It pays a little more than most places because you have to deal with crazy people and dope heads who have fried their brain. Some of the places like doctors offices that use rn's may pay less but they usually have great perks like great hours and no weekends or holidays, but you probably won't get one of those jobs until you get a little experience. Good luck and hope this helps. |

Nursing is a fantastic profession, I have met many lovely nurses in my lifetime, both ladies and gents. My daughter uncovered some fantastic tips about it on the site in the box below, and now she is in her first year of training. |

Well, just call those local places and ask then - wages are going to be different all over the country, even in the same state |

Low 20's/hr is your best bet. You can haggle with them. Good Luck to ya! |

An RN straight out of school can expect between $16 - $40/hour depending on what you will be doing and where you will live. It varies widely, but within one area and one kind of work - it's pretty close to the same. Office nurses don't make squat, specialty nurses make a little more and travel nurses make much more. |
