STAY AWAY FROM BOTH!!!

MedTech and Brown Mackie are not accredited!!! They are simply a "for profit" business venture (I cannot being myself to refer to them as an educational institution).

They tell prospective students that they are in the "process of accredidation" with the NLN, but as you can see from the NLN's website, they are not. Student's that aren't savvy enough to inquire about NLN accredidation are simply told the school is accredited (because it is accredited by some "agency of higher learning", but not by the NLN!!!)

I work with a CNM (Certified Nurse-Midwife) from Indiana whose wonderful niece in Indianapolis got suckered into MedTech by their promise of "no waiting for clinicals". This young lady started the program, then got a job as a "clinical tech" at a local Indianapolis hospital, only to find out by human resources at that hospital that no facility in Indiana will hire someone as an RN (or even a grad or student nurse) that attended a school that wasn't NLN accredited!

(She ended up applying at IUPUI and is taking prerequisites for the BSN program. Of course, NOTHING from MedTech transferred, and she still owes them almost 10,000 for a useless term of "education", but she will have a BSN from Indiana University- the 2nd largest School of Nursing in the US- in a few years for under $25,000).

I am so glad you posted this question so you could find out the truth!! Look at the website link I posted above and see what is accredited in Indiana. It's the ones you figured.....all the state universities, some community colleges, and some private colleges such as Valparaiso, Marian U, and University of Indianapolis.

Remember the old phrase...."If it sounds too good to be true.........it probably is"? Well, it certainly is the case when it comes to these bogus nursing schools.

That website is a great tool for student nurses, by the way, although it's ironic that the adds on the webpage are for some of the same crappy schools that the forums are complaining about.....

Check with the director of your school BEFORE applying. an RN degree is fantastic, but follow up with a BSN to increase your earning potential & job availability. talk to your college counselor if you have further questions.
