So i just graduated in may class of 2010 from high school.

Okay so it's july and in august i start college. I am nervous and by the way i'm going to attend

University of phoenix.I want to become a Rn.And i am super nervous. I am reading that it is really difficult that many people drop out and other stuff.I would love to become a Neonatal Nurse..But i need help.

Is it really hard like drop dead hard to become a nurse?

How are your classmates? Do they help each other out?

Our your teachers nice or not?

What type of job is better part-time or full-time?

Congrats on your high school graduation. Please keep in mind that University of Phoenix DOES NOT offer basic nursing courses. It's for RNs that want their BSN or MSN or for LPN/LVN that want to be an RN. It's not a National League of Nursing accredited school. That means you need to be an RN or an LPN/LVN before you can earn a degree from them.

Maybe you are just taking some basic courses and plan to transfer those credits to a state university or community college.....if that's the case, please contact the school you plan to transfer to and make sure they accept University of Phoenix credits. A lot of places do not take them. Beware with these online diploma mills, if it sounds to good to be true....it is!! I would recommend people that are considering University of Phoenix, Kaplan, or MedTech type in the name of that school with the word "scam" next to it and see what sites you find.........stick with a community college or state university for an affordable and legit nursing education!!!!

Best wishes in whatever you choose.

My husband just graduated from RN school in May. It was a tough year for him, He went to LPN school first and then went to RN school instead of just going to RN school, I'm really not sure if either way is the easiest. There is a high drop rate, schools weed out people real quick that aren't dedicated. I hope you like studying and reading, there is going to be LOTS of that. Stay on top of it and study, study, study, and you should be ok. My hubby was involved with a study group that met before tests and and they also helped each other out on homework, each person would do some and then they would trade answers. Also remember that usually nursing grades run differently than high schools or even college, generally a 74.9 or lower is failing, so you have to have a 75 or higher going to pass.

Good luck!

My aunt is a nurse. She started school when she was 23 and she graduated when she was 26. She got an associates degree from a community college. She also had two young kids during this time and her husband was unemployed, so she had a lot on her plate. It was a rigorous course but she learned a lot and did great in school. She is smart, but nothing out of the ordinary. You can do it! One thing, though, is that she hates her job. It is tough and often gross work. She works long hours during the night shift and she'd like a position in the NICU, but she says you have to be at a place a while before they'll let you work in the NICU because it is a favorite position. She can't even get on the day shift. Good luck!

I have to agree UOP is for those who have their LPN/LVN and want to bridge to RN or those who want to do RN to BSN. It would be better and cheaper to go to a community college so you can do your pre reqs for a year. I recommend going into LPN program first then bridge to RN. Regardless it will take the same amount of time.( total of 3 years) Plus with becoming a LPN first, you can get a job in the field while in school for RN.

You need to drop UofP NOW! They're a for profit diploma mill and chances are your overpriced credits are not going to transfer, therefore leaving you in the dust just when you think you can start nursing.

I recommend looking at your local community colleges and 4 year schools. Those are your best options.

Once you're in the program, other students are fantastic. You all want to pass, so study groups are common. My professors are pretty decent, but that's really gonna vary by school. Don't worry about the job until your last year of nursing. You'll have it figured out by then.
