There are so many opportunitys out there for working in a care home. Many positions available do not require experience/qualifications. have you tried Job centre plus? Or even finding a list of care homes in your area and just giving them a ring? Thats how I got my first care job. Good Luck!!

Go to one and ask if u can volunteer, its a good first step

You should find vacancies at your local Job Centre, but all care-type positions require a CRB check. If you've ever had a criminal conviction, you'll have to think of something else

Become A CNA

These roles are not so easy to find these days as more employers are looking to recruit staff with the mandatory training and NVQ 2/3 as a minimum to stay within budget levels. It is usually only a minimum wage paid job, includes unsociable hours and not for the weak or faint hearted (lol)

As someone else said, explore the homes in the area close to you, ask people who you may know to give you any leads, ring and ask for application forms even if they are not recruiting.

The job centre also can give you advice for the training you need and if you are not working, ask about a First Aid, Food Hygiene or Health & Safety course that are funded, some may advise you to enrol at college for NVQ in Health & Social Care but there are so many people doing this today with the unemployment situation, that the jobs are not two a penny anymore. The more you research into this, the better your options.

You can take a CNA course (certified nursing assistant)...they are usually 6-8 weeks depending on where you go. After completion, you will receive a certificate and then you can apply for CNA positions in nursing homes or hospitals.
