I own my own practice and have for 10 years, However i think I want to do something else. What else could i do. Im burned Out and want out. I know I cant make a similar income, but am willing to accept that if I can do something else. Any Ideas????

I wouldn't give up all my time that I spent getting my MD and just change fields!! Believe me I am burned out at times to but there are always other paths you can take with your MD. Teach at a university, do research (yes you can get paid for that) One of my friends hated her practice and quit and became a hospitalist at the local hospital and she loves it!! They pay malpractice, she works 3-4 12 hr days and she doesn't consitently see the same pts. Also she feels accomplished when she has an ICU pt go bad and is able to turn them around! Its just a thought if that doesn't work then give up medicine |

It depends what your interested in doing really. depending on wether you want to work inside or outside or a job where your moving about a lot or you want to sit behind a desk. my advice would be to look the job adverts and see what grasps your attention and makes you think "Oh id like to do that" then look for jobs in that field!" maybe go speak to a careers adviser or a job seekers acency to see whats available/ what you want to do!! |

I totally understand you. Here's some suggestions: Pursue what you love to do but does not have time to do it bec of you being a doctor; get into research med; volunteer your skills and talents in poor places/countries; become a professor/teacher. |
