How much money to Emergency Medical Technicians get paid?

I registered to take a class to become an EMT (Emeregency Medical Technician) because a friend of mine did the same thing, but i talked to a guy the other day who told me that EMT's get paid minimum wage. Is that true? If the salary of an EMT is that low i'm just going to forget the whole thing.

Tell me where you can make 25-30 an hr plz!!! most medics do not even make that! if you are looking to make money, then dont look at para medicine.the going rate for an emt-basic with no experience is 10-14/hr. a emt-p (a medic) with no experience makes about 14-18/hr. of course it will vary upon location (i am in dallas). that is about the going rate "in the field". you'll make a little more in the hospitals, esp with shift differentials. you have to obtain your emt-b before you can enter a medic program. although some places, esp 2yr colleges may combine them. i went to school at EMTS, which is very well known and respected around here. i cannot stress enough... please look for a place that has a good standing, it will make a BIG difference when it comes to finding a job. my emt-b class was part-time/4mo. then there medic course runs approx 8mo. |
