I teach medical front office and billing and coding. If you want to go back to school I would recommend you check out your local junior college, adult schools and ROP programs and see what they offer. They generally take about the same time as private schools and they are the most economical. Before you begin any program check with local employers and find out which schools they prefer. Some employers will not hire graduates of certain programs.

As you have trained for a medical assistant already I would recommend you consider becoming an LVN/LPN (depends upon where you live). See if you can find a program that will help you upgrade from a medical assistant to an LVN/LPN. I believe there are some programs to help one upgrade from an LVN/LPN to RN. There was at one time "bridge" programs to help upgrade from an MA to LVN/LPN but I don't know whether or not they still exist.

You have all kinds of options with regard to where you go next. First make a list of your favorite things you enjoy doing as a medical assistant? What do you dislike doing? Then go read the job descriptions of each of the different options you are considering. With a baby on the way consider which shift you want. Do you only want 9 to 5? If so, perhaps dental hygienist might be good rather than nursing.

Congratulations on the pregnancy. now i will be honest, i am in highschool and support your going back to school to go into the medical feild, but maybey along the way you can try this too. its working from home and making money online! i have put in a couple hours a day for a week and a half between doing homework and school and working at a local pizza place. I on average have been starting to making 50$ a day with doing nothing lately. its alot of work at first, but it beats work a 9-5 minumum wage job and going to school at the same time! i will post the link below, hope this helps
