Going to Nursing School and still needing to produce an income?

I'm a 30 year old married woman with 2 kids. I am seriously looking into a couple of 2 yr nursing programs in my area and know what I need to put together to get into these programs. The schooling will be intense and will be full time.

The worry that I have is I still need to bring in some sort of income so that we can pay bills and not loose our house, etc while in school.

If you've faced this and have any suggestions, please let me know. I know that I'll/we'll have to make sacrifices while I'm in school, but I can't just put life on hold either.

Hi, I have been in almost the same situation, but I dont have kids which is a little easier on me.

There is really one thing that makes this impossible to answer and that is, how much money do you need to make to survive?

1 Are you working a full time job right now? Could they hire you on weekends?

2 Are your kids in school full time or would you need someone to watch them?

3 Can hubby take on extra hours at work?

4 Can you sell of things that you dont not need ei: extra vehicles? Boats? etc etc?

5 If you sold your house would you have equity to apply to school or to live on for the next 2 years?

6 Do you have RRSP's that you could use? (You can take out RRSP's to apply to schooling)

7 Try getting a line of credit. They are more reliable and easier to use then student loans.

I hope this works for you and i hope your husband supports you 100%. This is really crucial for going back to school after being in a career.

I suggest you look for part time NIGHT nursing programs. some colleges offer it. Look around your area at local community colleges.
