Getting Hired in Hawaii as a Nurse with a degree from University of Phoenix?
I lived in Hawaii for the past 12 years and been on a few career path that didn't pan out. However, I have decided to look into medical field and become a Nurse. The only thing is that I am a little concern about employment opportunity in Hawaii (Oahu) as a Nurse. I have attended University of Phoenix on campus and on Online classes for Business Management but currently I am on a financial break. I plan on finishing out my Business Management degree soon with University of Phoenix because I am almost done with a year left of credits to go. Then after I am done, I plan to go for the Nursing Degree but my concern and question is being able to get hired as a Nurse in Hawaii with a Nursing degree from University of Phoenix? I heard that Hawaii medical industry is very particular when hiring people with a Nursing degree if it didn't come from Hawaii educational system; is this true? Will my nursing degree be acknowleged in Hawaii for hire at a hospital if it is from University of Phoenix Online/Campus? Or will I have to switch schools such as University of Hawaii or Hawaii Pacific University, etc? If anyone have any information on this please advise, thanks.

U of P is one of the biggest ripoffs there is. When I see a resume with that "school" on it it goes in the trash. I'm sorry, but online classes are never a good idea, and an over priced diploma mill like U of P are worse. First thing I'd do is find a real school and hope my credits transfer. |

University of Phoenix is about the most worthless $100,000 a person could spend. There graduates applications are thrown out without even being read past the education line. My suggestion to you is to transfer back to a real school, in Hawaii sounds nice. |

PLEASE check out these websites b-4 you go into debt. I had help with a education specialist to help me find funding (grants, scholarships) and tell me the best you to get the best education and the first thing she told me is vocational schools like UOP are not as great as you may think, you are going to get talmost the same education from a comm coliege and she gave me these websites to check out. |
