Do hospitals/doctor's offices not like hiring nurses with only an associate's degree?

Category: Health Care

I am changing careers from education to nursing and I am looking for the most affordable program. There is a community college nearby that offers an associate's degree in nursing that allows you to get an RN, assuming you pass the boards. My question is: is an associate's degree enough to actually get a job? To me, it seems like doctors and hospitals would rather hire nurses with a bachelor's degree over those with an associates. Basically I'm wondering if it is possible to get a job as an RN with an associates instead of a bachelors. Thanks for your help!

Hospitals and Doctors offices are hiring people with Associates Degree in Nursing. Some would like to hire an individual with a Bachelor Degree however, due to the shortage they can not always hold out for someone with a bachelor degree. Both Degrees make you eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam and become a RN.

The key is certifications/ specializations. Make sure you get your ACLS and PALS, certifications which is Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support . You can actually get those a little bit before you take the NCLEX-RN or right afterwards.

Also if you have a specific area of Nursing you would like to go into, when in school during clinicals, train in that specific area.
