Yep you need a BSN - Bachelors in Nursing first. takes minimum 4 years or more. an ADN degree wont cut it. then you need to work a minimum of 1 or 2 years as an RN. then apply to graduate school. agree it is highly competitive, but then you spend a minimum of 2 years in grad school and get licensed as a CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Demands of the job - almost the same as an anesthesiologist but with low risk patients. You provide anesthesia to patients during surgery, and keep them alive! its much much harder than it sounds. you also get to do things like spinal epidurals etc. if you are super smart and super motivated and dedicated you can do it! good luck

YOu need a bachelors degree in nursing; then 1 or more years in critical care nursing, then apply and get accepted to the masters level CRNA course - which is highly competitive and requires stellar grades & letters of rec. Salary can range around the $100 K mark but you have huge liability and responsibilities. You can google around for job descreptions which are very good on the web and too lengthy to re type out.
