Becoming an RN and the different areas of nursing?

Category: Health Care

Sweet „Sweet „

I'm looking to go to school to become an RN, however I want to work with infants whether it be as neonatal nurse or a NICU nurse, or even a pediatric nurse which I realize would be children of all ages.

I'm confused---do you have to take different courses to work in different areas of nursing? Or once you become a certified RN are you able to apply for any kind of nursing job whether it be neonatal, pediatrics, geriatrics, etc?

Thank you for any advice!

The RN programs include classes on gero, pediatrics, ob/gyn, etc.

You will be able to do the work you are talking about after getting your RN.

I would suggest you get into a BSN program, not an ADN program. You will be more in demand and it will be easier to continue your education later.

Be a registered nurse first.

Then, you can select which area of specialty you would like to work with.

High paying RNs are specialties like Cath Lab, Operative and the likes.
