Completing your first year does not automatically make you an LPN, you actually have to be licensed. If your school allows for the time, you could train both at one time, but it would be somewhat a waste of time and money. What I do is look around for CNA jobs or SNE positions which are offered at most hospitals. Some will even comp your tuition if you sign a contract!

Hi,

No you will not be an LPN one year through your ADN program. They are 2 different programs for two separate licenses and would be like comparing apples and oranges. The LPN program is different from the RN one and teaches you on a different level towards a different goal.

If you want to go ahead and start working sooner, or need to, go on and get your LPN in at a local institute and after you pass your licensing exam you can work and enter a bridge program that will then educate you to be an RN while you are working as an LPN. In the long run this lets you start making an income faster but takes longer overall to go this route.

Good luck.
