Any physician assistants who are moms? quick question?

I'm entering college at Virginia Tech in a couple of months and am utterly confused. Up until recently, I had my heart set on becoming a high school teacher. But I've really been looking into becoming a PA and think it sounds great for me. The only thing is, I love children. I want to have kids and be a big part of their lives. I want to be around for them and make them dinner every night and not just stick them with a babysitter all of the time. Are there any moms who are PAs out there that can tell me if and how they make it work??? It would really help me make my decision. Thanks.

PA's work all different hours depending where your job is. I worked with one who was at an urgent care center 3 evenings a week from 5pm to 10pm. She was home all day with her little kids when her husband got home from work she left for her part time job. Then when her kids were older she took a day shift position part time 7a to 3p. I am a respiratory therapist who works two 12 hour shifts a week. I get to be home 5 days a week and my daughter is with her dad or her grandparents for only 2 days. Granted those 2 days I don't see her too much especially because she's asleep when I get home and when I leave but I know she is getting a lot of spoiling - I mean love from her dad and grandparents. Compared with a day care center 5 days a week for the regular 9 to 5 people I would take my hours any day.
