The only time it serves any purpose to apply online is if the employer specifically instructs you to or

you are applying for a corporate position or

you are applying for a management position.........

if you are a teen looking for a job;

the types of places that will hire you expect you to show the initiative to apply in person at the location you would like to work at........

do NOT post personal information on line unless it is a SECURE corporate site THAT PROVIDES A SECURE LINK.......

do NOT send personal information to any job listed on craigslist...

Usually you have to send in an email with your online application, so i would just check the email address that you used as often as you can, they will probably send you information that way

This is how the experts get jobs.

Go to the place and ask for an application.

Fill out out there - be prepared with all your info.

Dress well - no jeans.

When you are finished ask for the manager.

Shake his/her hand firmly.

Sell yourself. Tell them how much you would love to work there and how nice the place is - anything.

Go back 2 days later with a typed thank you note with the manager's name.

Again, ask for the manager and thank him in person for his time.

This will show them you have reliable transportation and your eagerness to work there.

Also look in your newspapers classified ads for job openings.

You can also visit your employment/unemployment office - they update job openings on a wall or a table daily - ask if you can't find them.

Once you've uploaded the application form and sent a covering letter and attached your resume/CV then they will either email you or write to you, but it takes a while, maybe a couple of weeks.
