I am currently working in Zambia as a freelance writer but I am considering moving into PR for non-profits. Is there anyone out there who does this and can they give me a little info on the job they do?

It is exactly the same as doing PR for a 'for profit' company. If you don't have knowledge or experience in this field of PR, you won't be able to 'move into' it; you will need the required training in order to be considered eligible for hiring by any organization, profit or nonprofit.. You should also try to volunteer at a local charity, offering to help them with their PR department, and gain experience that way.
