I didn't show up to my work experience placement. Will they still take me?

As I said, I slept through my work experience placement despite setting my alarm. When I woke up, it was 3pm and I didn't see much point going as it ends as the job is from 9:00 - 17:30.

If I show up promptly on time tommorow, will they still allow me to continue for the rest of the week? I'm going to say I was ill. Also, I think I was meant to call them before turning up anyway, which due to my losing the letter I didn't manage to do. Do you think they'll let me do the rest of the week anyway?

The placement is at a small high street pet shop if it matter. Please don't lecture me - I already feel really guilty about this as it takes so much to organize, and I understand it must be so aggravating for the child to just not show up. So will they still take me? Any experience on this matter? Thanks for all your help :)

As you have identified yourself as a child, you might not be ready for this. Not a lecture, but a statement based on the facts in your post.

What you do next depends on what you want to do, and what you feel able to do. You know perfectly well that you have behaved as though you are a person who has few basic life skills, even though you may have these abilities in another situation.

If you want to do the placement, find their number, call and make your excuse first thing in the morning, and turn up asap. If you don't want the placement ( and I guess you may not) then aggravate until you find something more suitable for you. I can imagine that you would not appreciate feeling like the victim of a systematic placement scheme, and would prefer to feel that you have some control- but sleeping all day and losing your stuff is not the behaviour of someone who is in charge of life.
