Degree needed for Non-profit Organization?

I will soon be graduating with an undergrad psychology degree. My goal, which I am currently working towards, is to start a non-profit organization and take on the role as executive director. Will it be necessary for me to obtain a post graduate degree? Will it be seen as acceptable to others in the field if I run my NPO with only a B.S. degree? Any advice that you have regarding non-profits in general will also be greatly appreciated.

A post-graduate degree is not required to get a job as an executive director of most non-profit organizations. However, there are some fields where post-graduate degrees are a must. For example, if you work with libraries or with colleges and universities, everyone has advanced degrees, which makes it necessary. Look around in your field and see what type of degrees others hold, especially executive directors of similar non-profits. |
