I recently got a part-time job at panera.the first time i worked there they didnt want to clock me in and offer to pay me in a meal.but i refused so they had to clock me in.they also made me clock out an hour early because they were losing hours....but they make their schedule 2 weeks ahead of time.yet they continue to hire people to.they only have me working for 1 day a week.

Find a new Job before you quit. I recently walked off my job at Burger King. I worked there for three years and then all of a sudden new management comes in, hires all these new people, and gives me little hours. I talked to the manager to get more hours and she told me "Sure"..I walk in the next week to work a three hour shift :/ and look at the schedule to see i'm scheduled less hours than before! The manager was there and I asked her why, and she said "It is difficult to fit you in with all these new employees". I said "I've been here three years, work hard everytime im here. I feel disrespected that new people are getting more hours than me". She told me more hours for me were not happening....so i just left. Luckily family friends have been offering me jobs forever so i accepted there requests but I would recommend finding another before you quit. It sucks paying for college :/

Time to look for a new job where u can actually go to work and they do things above board! They sound a bit suspicious to me. Next time they clock u out early make sure u leave early too.

I kind of had the same problem at a stupid *** cracker barrel. they would scheduale people and if there were to many people once if slowed down they would send people home. so if you were suppose to work 6 hrs you might only get to work 4 or 3 hours. so i quit

Yes, quit. They are messing with the books somehow. One day a week is a joke.

Yeah, Id quit! Sounds like a total waste of your time. Its more effort than its worth. Look for another job.

If you do not have something more important to do during that time, stick with it. Start placing resumes at other places and at lease you will have something to put down for work experience.

They cannot ask you to work without being on the clock if you are a non-exempt employee (which you are). That's illegal. Just FYI.

If they're only giving you one day a week, that should leave plenty of time to find another job. I would not quit until you found something else. Better to give your reason for leaving the old job as having left it for the new position, than to essentially say "I quit" in a negative sense.

Do not quit. Put in a complaint with your state's Labor Board.

I would say go ahead and quit. They don't seem very serious about correct practices with allowing you to clock in versus a free meal. I'm sure you're not working your butt off to eat for free only. There are better jobs out there in the food service industry. It just sounds really shady how they are treating you.

I work in food service and have been at the same store for 5 years. I would leave quick buddy. Good luck to you my friend!
