Is it possible to apply for an internship at a pastry/bakery shop without any prior experience?

I live in Montreal and would like to know if it's possible to intern (for free obviously) at a pastry shop or a bakery, even without any prior experience or knowledge in pastry? I'm very interested in studying pastry abroad, but would like to see if I'm made for such a career, before jumping in headfirst.

Thank you!

It is possible. Some of the best chefs had no formal training. You would usually work at a lesser job prepping the food for the chefs. You would learn the pastry while you worked. Go ahead and apply.
