Is 20 too old to be a hostess at a restaurant?
I know you just have to be 16 and up so technically it's not too old.
but i don't want the 16 year olds working there to think i'm all old or anything.
and i'm not saying i'm too good to work with them by any means. i don't even feel much older than 16-19 year olds.. but i just don't want them to look at me weird.
is it weird for a 20 year old to be a host for a restaurant? (just turned 20 btw so i'd be a year till i could move up to server)
what do you guys think? anyone work at a restaurant like chili's and know the ages of the hosts?

Spring Chicken, my dad used to say. You can be a host at any age. So why worry about age or if anyone thinks you are weird? I can say that because I've been in the restaurant business for 25 years. It never mattered if you're 16, 20 or even 60 where I worked. Trust me. All you need is to smile, dress nice, and be a hostess. Some places might choose to have a hostess fit a specific profile, waitresses too, cooks too, etc. That's because looks do count. Experience counts. Intelligence counts. You can always move up to a server or try other places where there is no age discrimination. |
