How to quit my job gracefully.?

Category: Food Service

Ok so I found a new job and I have to start immediately so I cannot give two weeks notice. I work at Walmart so it's not like it's some big corporation. I just want to know how I can quit without seeming like a jerk.

Don't worry, this is easy. People do it all the time. My daughter just did it. Just politely tell them that you have enjoyed working there at Walmarts, that you think the people you've worked with there were great, and that you're sorry you have to leave without giving 2 weeks notice---but you have found a new job that's more suitable for you (that's more along your career goals, whatever) and they require that you start immediately.

....so you wish you could have given them two weeks notice but unfortunately you can't--Walmart has been a great place to work for--but the new job requires that you start immediately.

You used a good word when you said 'gracefully.' It means you have it in you to do it right. Just be gracious.

Jobs like Walmarts turn over all the time--if anyone gets annoyed at you, just let it roll off because they're the one with the problem, not you.

You're smart to move on. GOOD LUCK! I know you'll do well!

Communicate with both jobs, tell them your situation. Give a 2 or at least 1 week notice anyway so that you leave on good terms in case u need a reference or to comeback. They should be reasonable and bee willing to work something out.
